22 in. X 33 in., oil on formica panel. This was a painting that I did when I lived in Tampa, Florida. The light down there is very intense, and I loved to walk around with my camera looking for 'compositions' that had been arranged on the sidewalks and in the corners of buildings over time by the wind and elements. The shots that I liked I used for my paintings. I like how this spotted partridge feather was draped over this flat Pepsi cup, and the leaf next to it echoed the diagonal movement. My father had recently given me several formica panels that were used as counter-top samples at a hardwar store. I sketched in the image and sanded the surface where the image was. Then I gessoed just the image area and left the background show the textured pattern of the formica.
