The Huc or Sunbeam Bridge of Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi. This lake lies in the center of Hanoi. Legend has it that in the early 15th century, during the Ming Chinese occupation, General Le Loi was presented with a magical sword by a divine, golden turtle, which lived in the lake's waters. Some time later after the General had defeated the Chinese and established himself as Emperor, as he was sailing on the lake, the divine turtle once again rose to the surface and reclaimed the sword. Ho Hoan Kiem, as this lake is known, means the Lake of the Restored Sword.
